Project Description

The opening delivery of the CALLISTO platform has been successfully completed according to the first development cycle of the project.

The objective of this first release was to show the primary set of key results (KRs) that have been integrated into the CALLISTO platform, as well as the core components of the platform that have been implemented to offer different tools and means to create value-added services.

 

CALLISTO platform design and integration

The CALLISTO platform was designed and deployed thanks to CS GROUP’s METIS solution. METIS is a “Platform as a Service (PaaS)” data processing and analysis solution that is interoperable and open-source.

The CALLISTO platform is composed of some basic services including:

  • infrastructure monitoring tools,
  • security tools,
  • and a map displayer,

in order to configure and visualise data. The platform grants access to the integrated data and offers different tools and means, such as the deployment of Virtual research environments (VREs), as well as to create dashboards for data analytics or manage notifications for CALLISTO services.

The first set of CALLISTO data, as well as various User Interface (UI) services, coming from the different KRs developed by the project partners, have been integrated into the platform. For this purpose, an integration guide was made available to CALLISTO partners which contains details on how the KRs could be integrated within the platform to assist CALLISTO users to push their data and services autonomously.

CALLISTO platform portals

The results of this first work were three fully functional portals of the CALLISTO platform, accessible through SSO authentication, dedicated to three kinds of users:

  1. End-User Portal: Final users of the CALLISTO platform can access different added-value services and have a great user experience with visualisation and analytic tools thanks to the CALLISTO web portal, which offers user-friendly interfaces.

  1. Content Creators Portal: CALLISTO technical partners are responsible to publish content (data or interfaces) on the CALLISTO platform. They can access different tools and means offered by the platform, such as the deployment of VREs (Virtual research environments), as well as create dashboards for data analytics or manage the alerts and notifications for their services.

  1. Admins portal: The CS GROUP team is responsible for the maintenance of the CALLISTO platform. They have access to administration of strategic elements of the platform. They operate the platform in order to make it available for Content Creators and End-Users.

CALLISTO platform next steps

The delivery of the 1st prototype was the most important and challenging to implement as it contains all the core integrated components of the platform with different means and tools that add value to the CALLISTO services.

The first results of the integrated CALLISTO platform are going to be operationally tested through the Water Quality Assessment Demo at Blankaart pilot use case.

For the next releases, the platform will continue to evolve to offer two successive versions that will integrate the rest of the KRs together with an update and improvement of the integrated tools and means. This future work is planned to be tested operationally by other pilot use cases of the CALLISTO project.
